Travellers remain on two sites in Preston having moved on from Moor Park.

Around 30 caravans moved from the grade-II listed park on Sunday (16 September) leaving behind tyre tracks and rubbish after a week on the park.

The group moved to two sites in the city, onto the former Perrys showroom in Blackpool Road and also to the BMX track and playing fields in Fishwick Nature Reserve in London Road.

Preston City Council confirmed it was continuing proceedings to remove the travellers from its land in Fishwick.

A spokeswoman for Preston City Council said: “We are frustrated to see the state of Moor Park, following the recent stay by a group of travellers. Officers will be assessing the situation and are already working to clear all waste and rectify any damage.

“Action to evict the travellers from the council’s sports field on London Road will be commenced as soon as possible.”
