A short section of a road in Deepdale is to be shut for much of Sunday.
Preston City Council says due to a ‘Royal Wedding’ a 30 metre section of Chester Road is being closed.
A public notice on the city council website says due to the ‘street party celebrations’ the 13-hour closure will be in place.
The stretch of Chester Road from the junction with Isherwood Street is being closed off from 9am to 10pm on Sunday (2 September).
Andrea O’Neill, one of the residents organising the event, told Blog Preston: “We cancelled the Royal Wedding party as people couldn’t make it this weekend.
“The whole street is still shut as it was too late to notify the council and we decided to celebrate the summer of 2018 with just a small gathering from the street with a bouncy castle and other games and food.”
A statement from the city council said: “The above closure is required to prevent obstruction of the street at a time of public celebration.”
