Shoppers on Saturday in Preston heard the clashing of swords and the swilling of mead during their trip into the city centre.
The Dark Ages came to life as actors dressed as Vikings set up camp on the Flag Market.
Tents were strung up, helmets worn and horns blown as they explained to interested visitors what life was like more than 1,000 years ago.
The event, which ran from 12noon to 4pm, is the latest in the Summer Saturdays events.
Sponsored by Blog Preston, and put on by Preston City Council, there’s something different on each Saturday throughout the summer.
The Vikings were the latest entertainment to follow the likes of Armed Forces Day, comic book heroes and the Asian Mela on the Flag Market.

Preston City Wrestling are the next event to take place on Saturday (18 August) from 1.30pm with a free outdoor wrestling show.
