Swan causes traffic on M6 southbound near Preston

Congestion has been caused on the M6 motorway near Preston due to a swan.

Blockage was reported between junction 31 – 31A, with traffic building up to junction 32.

A picture from Highways England shows the swan on the carriageway while police attempt to help the situation just after 10am.

A spokesperson from Highways England said: “We can confirm that there is a swan on the motorway of the M6.

“There is slight congestion on the M6 southbound between junctions 31 and 31A.”

It has now been reported that the blockage has cleared up and the swan has been removed from the carriageway.

Following this, another incident at junction 31 involving a traffic collision caused further blockage. This has now been cleared.
