A Preston company has launched a range of protein snack bars using superfood ingredients including turmeric and charcoal.
NutreeLife, based at Red Scar Business Park in Ribbleton, say the vegan range is a first in the UK protein snack bar market.
Adam Hodgkinson, co-founder and head of new product development at NutreeLife, said: “The protein and health bar market has become saturated with products that provide very little benefit to consumers, so we set out to create a truly unique health bar that provided much more than just extra protein.”
Named Live Well, the range includes the spiced clementine flavoured Recovery bar. It features turmeric, which has anti-inflammatory benefits thanks to its active ingredient curcumin.
The Detox bar contains blueberry and charcoal, the Wellbeing bar toasted pistachio, cacao and chlorella, and the Energy Boost bar pink guava, beetroot and guava.

Each bar contains over 12 grams of plant-based protein and less than 200 calories per serving. The range is gluten, soya and dairy free.
Jade Hodgkinson, marketing director at NutreeLife, said: “Our superfood snack bars are perfect for those consumers who are looking for a healthy treat throughout the day.
“We expect they will appeal to the health and wellness community, who we understand are under-served by the current range of protein-only foods that are targeted more towards sports enthusiasts.”
The new Live Well range is available online at NutreeLife, Amazon and is expected to be available through selected stores over the next six months.
