Part of the M6 motorway near Preston will shut for two nights this week for necessary repair work.
AdvertisementFollowing a lorry strike on Thursday (26 July) which led to a 24-hour full closure of the motorway, the M6 southbound will close again from Junctions 33 – 32.
Taking place from 8pm – 6am on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 August, Highways England will be relocating the temporary support that was put in place.

This work should allow them to reopen lane one of the motorway.
It is expected that the work will be completed by 6am on Thursday 23 August.
Highways England North West wrote on Twitter: “#M6 southbound Js 33 to 32. 8pm to 6am closures tomorrow and Weds nights. After the bridge strike last month we’ve been working to relocate the temporary support – allowing us to reopen lane 1. This should be completed by 6am on Thurs. Thanks for your patience.”
