Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent four crews to the former Old England pub in Ribbleton Lane just before midnight on Sunday (26 August).

A spokesman for the fire service said a pile of rubbish on the ground floor had been deliberately set alight.

Crews were able to quickly put out the blaze and no one was hurt.
