A sinkhole which developed in New Hall Lane has seen emergency roadworks put in to fill it.

Temporary traffic lights are in place and contractors are in place between Hawarden Road and Illingworth Road.

Craig Thomas, who runs J&S motorcycle clothing and accessories, said he reported the sinkhole that is outside the store to Lancashire County Council on Sunday 8 July.

He said: “We’ve been told the problem was caused by a water leak further up the road.

“This caused a BT comms pipe to collapse and caused the road to sink.”
