Preston city centre is to be shut off to traffic from the second half of England’s World Cup semi-final onwards.
AdvertisementFriargate, sections of Fishergate and Church Street are all being turned into pedestrian-only zones.
It follows scenes of celebration after England’s victories over Colombia and Sweden.
A full list of roads is below that Preston City Council has agreed to shut from 8.45pm to 11pm on Wednesday (11 July).

Preston Police are expected to patrol the road closures and be on hand in light of any disorder following the result.

Diversion routes are being put in place for:
Syke Street, Avenham Lane and Manchester Road in that direction only.
Grimshaw Street, Avenham Lane and Syke Street in that direction only.
Church Street and Ring Way in that direction only.
Kendal Street, Corporation Street and Ring Way in that direction only.
Old Vicarage in that direction only.
Ring Way, Corporation Street and Fylde Street in that direction only.
The city council says a number of one-way traffic restrictions on roads around the city centre are being suspended for Wednesday evening.
