Preston charity Heartbeat is hosting a wellness festival to celebrate 40 years of helping people rebuild their lives after major heart events.

The Heart and Mind, Body and Soul Festival will showcase up to 60 stalls, featuring everything from alternative therapies and natural cosmetics to arts and crafts. There will be a great outdoors section, which will include cycling, caravanning, walking and running.

Activities such as yoga, dance, walking football and walking netball will take place throughout the day, and there will be health and wellbeing talks from experts. Children can enjoy forest activities, a “skipathon”, and Zumba classes.

Heartbeat’s annual 2km run will also be taking place, and runners are encouraged to dress as superheroes.

If all that sounds a bit much, you can have your blood pressure and cholesterol tested by the Heartbeat team, or relax while listening to some live music.

There will be a range of healthy street foods on offer, plus ideas and inspiration from the Soul Food Kitchen.

The festival will take place on Saturday 15 September between 10am and 4pm, in the grounds of Ashbridge School in Hutton. Tickets are on sale through Skiddle.com. There are deals for families and an early bird reduction for bookings made before the end of July.

You can find out more about the work Heartbeat does on their website.
