Emergency sewer works shut Plungington Road

One of Preston’s busiest bus services is continuing to be diverted due to a road closure.

Update: Plungington Road is now reopened and buses have returned back to normal service

Plungington Road is closed off due to a sewer repair.

United Utilities have crews on site for the emergency roadworks.

A spokesman for Preston Bus said its 23 service was affected.

He said: “Service 23 is diverting via Fylde Road, Brook Street and Blackpool Road, outbound and inbound, until further notice.

“During the closure Adelphi Street, and Plungington Road between Aqueduct Street and Blackpool Road will not be served.”

The work is needed to stop sewage flooding out of the broken sewer which is near Ripon Street.

The county council lists the closure as potentially going on until 26 July.
