Child taken to hospital after dog attack in Ribbleton

Police have arrested a woman following a dog attacking a child in Ribbleton.

The incident took place on Sunday (15 July) around 4.15pm.

A four-year-old girl was playing in the garden at a property in Westfield Drive, off Watling Street Road.

Preston Police say she received facial and head injuries from the dog, which lived at the property.

The child was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The dog is understood to be a cross-breed and has been seized by police.

A 40-year-old woman from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control and remains in police custody.
