Dozens of firefighters are being deployed to a grassland fire at Winter Hill.

A moorland fire at Rivington was put out during Monday but another has now begun from around 4.30pm on Thursday (28 June).
It comes as Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Army continue to battle the flames at Saddleworth Moor.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service says it has ‘several appliances’ being sent to Winter Hill. A total of 12 fire crews are at the scene and working to stop the fire.
It is not known if it is the same patch of moorland that has reignited from Monday’s fire.
The police helicopter has been called out to support fire crews and the public are being advised to avoid the area.
Anyone living near Winter Hill has been told to keep their doors and windows shut.
