St Catherine’s Hospice’s sponsored firewalk returns to Yellow Day this weekend

St Catherineā€™s Hospice’s popular family fun day returns this weekend with fairground rides, farm animals, firewalking and more.

The Yellow Day Garden Fete takes place on Sunday 24 June in theĀ grounds of St Catherineā€™s Park in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall. There will be activities and attractions running from 11am until 4pm.

The day will raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice, which is an independent charity providing highly specialised palliative and end-of-life care for the people of Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.

Dozens of supporters will be braving the heat in theĀ sponsored firewalk challenge to help fund the specialist care offered by St Catherineā€™s at the hospice, in the community, and in peopleā€™s own homes. To join inĀ the firewalk, email emma.jacovelli@stcatherines.co.uk or call 01772 629171.

Lorraine Charlesworth, director of community and income at the hospice, said: ā€œYellow Day is such a wonderful occasion in which we welcome our communities into our beautiful grounds of St Catherineā€™s Park – the atmosphere is brilliant and thereā€™s so much to see and do.

ā€œNew attractions this year include a mobile farm and birds of prey, and weā€™re also looking forward to a host of fantastic live music and dancing displays, plenty of games and activities for the children, and a delicious barbecue and a pop-up bar from The Mill Outside. Weā€™re even screening the World Cup England match live in our marquee, so nobody has an excuse not to come along and join in the fun!ā€

A free Park and Ride service will operate throughout the day with regular shuttle buses between the hospice and the Leyland Trucks car park in Croston Road. More information about Yellow Day can be found on the St Catherine’s Hospice website.
