A crash on a rural road in the outskirts of Preston has triggered an appeal for witnesses by police.

On Sunday (20 May) a silver BMW 320i was heading along Church Lane, Clifton, when the driver lost control and hit a wall – the driver then fled the scene.

The car, which was travelling towards Salwick, was badly damaged and one passenger was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries to her neck.

She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital following the incident at 4.50pm.

Two other passengers were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Police say the driver was located on Sunday evening, the search involved the police helicopter being called out.

PC Lee Taylor said: “This collision has resulted in one woman receiving significant injuries.

“This has happened in a rural location, but we’d appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how small, to please let us know. If you were travelling on this road around the time of the collision and have any dash cam footage, we would also be interested in viewing this.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 1190 of 20th May.
