Preston’s city centre was alive to the sound of samba beats during Sunday (6 May) afternoon.

Running for more than 20 years the Spectrum dance troupe saw its latest recruits perform dances across the city.

Taking over the Flag Market, Orchard Street and Church Street they helped raise money towards this year’s Preston Caribbean Carnival.

Setting off at 12.30pm the group were blessed with sizzling temperatures as Sunday shoppers watched the group perform.

The money raised is going towards costumes and travel for the carnival.

This year’s Caribbean Carnival runs on Sunday 10 June and sees a procession through the streets of Deepdale before the party continues in Moor Park.
