Police are now treating the death of a man who was found collapsed at a hotel in Preston city centre as a murder investigation.
Jonathan Palgrave was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after being found at The Clifton Hotel in Fishergate Hill.
The 35-year-old was found collapsed around 8.20pm on Sunday 19 May and was taken to hospital – where he died a short time later.
A spokeswoman for Preston Police said a post mortem had revealed Mr Palgrave had died from a head injury.
Police had said he was found outside the same hotel, two days before his death, with a head injury.
On Wednesday 23 May the police had said Mr Palgrave’s death was being treated as unexplained.
This has now changed to a murder investigation.
A 30-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and has now been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Police are continuing to appeal for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard McCutcheon said last week: “We are following a number of lines of inquiry to try and establish what happened in the days before Jonathan died.
“We would ask anyone who might have seen Jonathan or has any information about him to speak to us as we continue our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log reference 1546 of May 20th.
