A man was left with a broken arm after an attack in Deepdale after trying to go to a woman’s aid.
The 62-year-old man witnessed a woman being verbally abused by four men.
The men, who were in a red car on St Mary’s Street North, got out of the vehicle and one of them set upon the man.
The incident between 9.45pm and 10.20pm on Sunday (6 May) saw the victim lose consciousness and his arm was broken after falling to the ground in Ribbleton Lane, close to Deepdale Mill Street.
Detective Constable Kurt Edwards of Preston CID said: “An investigation is underway after a serious assault in Preston.
“The offender and the men with him are all believed to have been speaking with Eastern European accents.
“The woman they were shouting at is described as a white female, well-tanned, with long, dark, straight hair. We are keen to trace her as part of our enquiries as well as anyone else who saw the attack or who was in the area at the time of the offence.
“If you know the men involved, or, if you were the woman at the scene, we want to speak to you. Any information could prove crucial.”
