Dragon boat racing winners crowned after Preston Docks competition

Drum beats and the paddling of oars were heard across Preston Docks on Saturday (12 May).

The annual universities boat race took place on the Marina.

Edge Hill University were crowned winners, beating teams from the University of Central Lancashire, Lancaster, Wigan and Leigh, Manchester and Liverpool.

Preston’s Mayor councillor Brian Rollo was on hand to present the winners with their plaque.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service had crews on standby to ensure the safety of all those taking part.
