Preston’s popular Easter Egg Rolling tradition was not ruined, despite the torrential weather conditions that blessed the city.
Rain, hail and wind did not stop avid egg rollers braving the weather in their wellies for Bank Holiday Monday fun.
Since Victorian times, Prestonians have taken to Avenham Park to roll their eggs in true Easter spirit.

Taking place from 11am – 4pm on Easter Monday (2 April), the event went ahead despite the rain pouring down.
Eggs were rolled and chased down Avenham Park Hill on the hour, each hour.
Performances and entertainment were provided, including appearances from storm troopers and giant chickens.

The event, organised by Preston City Council, also included a range of fun fair attractions such as rides, helping to distract the egg rollers from the awful weather.
Easter Egg decorations were displayed around the park, helping to deliver a true feeling of Easter to the city.
We captured the event live and you can see the egg rolling take place on our Facebook video here.
