Preston has been seeing ‘cracking flags’ weather as temperatures climb to above 20 degrees.
AdvertisementIt’s a welcome change from the freezing winter and early Spring we endured with semi-regular snow showers in the city.
That seems a distant memory as sun worshippers flock to Avenham Park to enjoy the rays.
If you’ve got plans for the weekend then here’s our breakdown of how the weather is shaping up – and I’m afraid it’s a mixed picture.

Thursday (19 April)
Afternoon – temperatures reach a high of 20 degrees and then start to fall off down to 16 degrees by late afternoon
Evening – Staying nice and warm with the sun eventually setting at 8.19pm. A clear night and temperatures down to around nine degrees by midnight.
Friday (20 April)
Morning – We start out looking cloudly, only light cloud though, that clears away by late morning as the sun breaks through. Temperatures reach 13 degrees by mid-morning.
Afternoon – The sun breaks through fully by 4pm and late afternoon in particular looks very pleasant as you finish work.
Evening – The sun stays until just after 8pm and then it’s another clear night.
Saturday (21 April)
Morning – Dawning with bright spells and temperatures already up to 14 degrees by 10am.
Afternoon – All this heat means a rain shower is inevitable and it starts to arrive on Saturday mid-afternoon. Temperatures are still up there though, around 19 degrees.
Evening – The showers, only light, continue into the evening and it’s very muggy – with temperatures of 14 degrees at midnight.
Sunday (22 April)
Morning – Dawns cloudy but temperatures still at 12 degrees, and there’s forecast to be a light shower around 9am.
Afternoon – Remains cloudy and highs of 13 degrees
Evening – We see a little bit of sun coming through around 6pm to round off the weekend. Temperatures remain above 10 degrees all evening.
Monday (23 April)
Morning – The rain returns. Preston returns to normal.
