Commuters travelling between Preston and Blackpool North will breathe a sigh of relief this Monday (16 April) when the railway line reopens after six months.
The Great North Rail Project tweeted, “All overhead wires between Preston and Blackpool North are now up. Work continues to get the new equipment ready for electric trains. Greener, quieter and more reliable journeys are coming.”
The 17 mile route to Blackpool North has been totally closed so that the electrification work could take place. The stretch between Preston and Blackpool South was completed last month.
