A nursery running for more than two decades in Fulwood has been sold.

Elaine Cooke, who began the nursery more than 25 years ago, has decided to call time on Newlands – selling up to the Cheshire-based Kids Planet firm.
The family-run business operates from Lymm, Cheshire, and holds 14 outstanding ceriticates from Ofsted for its 22 nurseries across the North West.
Ms Cooke told Business Lancashire: “The time has come for us to sell on the ownership of the nursery, I have retired and plan to spend more time with my grandchildren with Lisa Charnley and Joanna Maughan to follow new career paths.
“We have all loved working and being part of Newlands and it will always have a special place in our hearts. We want to thank everyone who has been part of our journey, especially all the children and parents we have had the pleasure to be connected to.”

Newlands has held an outstanding certificate from Ofsted since 2009.
A new manager will take on Newlands and this is Kirsty Powell who currently runs the Kids Planet nursery at Prestwich.
She said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for me. Newlands has had great leadership and we will continue to maintain its exceptional standards. I am looking forward to being part of this new chapter with Kids Planet.”

Chief executive of Kids Planet Clare Roberts said: “We are so pleased to have acquired such a fantastic nursery. At Kids Planet, our aim is to provide the same outstanding child care across each and every one of our nurseries, and I am confident that the current high standards of care at Newlands will be maintained and developed under our ownership.”
