Police are investigating after a second arson attack at a former nightclub in the space of two weeks.

What was most recently Mokai in Church Street was targeted during the Tuesday (10 April) evening.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the building where a fire had been started deliberately at the back of the premises – off St John’s Place.

Crews put out the fire and no one was injured.

A spokesman for the service, who went crews from Preston and Penwortham, said the police had been notified of it as arson.

It follows another fire on Sunday 25 March where rubbish at the back of the building was set alight.

Plans were lodged in late 2016 for the building to become a new restaurant but no progress has been made on these since.
