Anyone catching a bus from Lancaster Road is urged to check timetables due to major roadworks in the road.
Lancashire County Council has moved onto the next stage of its roadworks outside the Guild Hall.
Bus stops in Lancaster Road opposite Jacson Street have closed while improvement work is carried out on the section between Church Street and Jacson Street.
Passengers who use these bus stops are being urged to catch their bus from Preston Bus Station instead.
A spokesman for the county council said: “We apologise to people for any disruption while this improvement work is carried out.
“People will need to head to the bus station to catch their bus, until the new bus shelters have been installed and they re-open.
“Businesses are expected to remain open during this work. When we’re carrying out work directly outside people’s doors, the work has been planned to fit around their opening hours where we can. This should reduce any disruption, as we did during the Fishergate improvement work.”

Work is due to take until the summer and road diversions are in place.
A number of other changes to bus stops are also in place during the work.
The park and ride bus stops in Jacson Street are temporarily relocated to Stand G in Church Street, outside the Evoque nightclub.
The bus stops on Lancaster Road, directly outside the Town Hall, are permanently closed.
