Social clubs are still around today, a place where members can meet each other and enjoy leisure activities.
A father-and-son duo have recently taken on Emmanuel Social Club, in Preston city centre, and hope to see the rise of social clubs again.
Gooch Singh, and his son, John Singh, have decided to take over the club located at 77 Emmanuel Street.

The pair decided to take it over and build it up again, in the hope of stopping their local club from closing down.
Now Emmanuel Social Club has its own function room with a dance floor and can cater for up to 150 people.
Welcoming members and non-members, the social club offers two pool tables and a snooker table, a HD Big Screen with Live Sports and a lucky dip machine where you can win up to £250.
John Singh said: “I think the club is great, it is over 100 years old and has an amazing history behind it.
“Me and my dad bought it because it has been our local for many years and it would of been a shame to see it close down.
“I think people should come and support local clubs.
“Everyone is welcome, not just members.
“I will be doing Indian grilled food once the kitchen is ready.”
Emmanuel Social Club is open Monday – Friday from 4.30pm – 12am, and Saturday – Sunday from 10am – 1am.
