Preston ranked in the UK cities to see the most rain

In case you were in any doubt about just how often it rains on us in Preston – there’s now meteorological proof.

Research taking average rainfall for cities dating back to 1981 makes very damp reading for Prestonians.

The average days of rainfall in the city is 153 per year, joint third in the UK for being the wettest city.

We see an average rainfall of 1033.6mm in the city.

According to research by BlauPunkt using Met Office data the only wetter cities are Glasgow, Lancaster and Newry (ranked joint third with Preston).

At the other end of the table cities such as Cambridge, Ely and London see only 107 to 109 says of rain per year.
