A big outdoor concert is coming back to Preston this Spring Bank Holiday weekend – with a spicy flavour

Formerly Sporty Spice – Melanie C – is to perform on the Flag Market for Prestfest.

She will be joined by retro European DJ Sash – belting out his hits Stay, Encore Une Fois and Ecuador – during the show on Saturday 5 May.

Mel C had this to say: “It’s going to be great to play my 90’s MixTape set in Preston, I’m really looking forward to Prestfest – northern crowds know how to party.”

Other acts performing include Cafe Mambo Ibiza resident DJ Ben Santiago and sax sensation Lovely Laura.

As well as the concert on the Flag Market beforehand it will see Gok Wan return to the city to present Fashion Rocks.

Gok Wan said: “I’ve been to Preston before and love the city, it’s got vibrant eclectic mix of clothing brands and people – my team and I can’t wait to ‘rock’ up on May 5th and showcase some awesome looks for guys and girls of Preston this spring.”

Organisers of the events Preston’s Business Improvement District said it was their biggest show yet.

Preston BID’s Mark Whittle said: “Working with the city’s leisure and retail businesses, we’ve put together two outstanding events to promote our city and its businesses and bring together thousands of people to celebrate our award-winning status.”

Called Fashion Rocks the event runs from 11.30am to 4.30pm

No, that’s £5 per ticket and they are available via the Prestfest website.

What time is the concert in the evening?

It’s from 6.30pm, with the stage up on the Harris balcony
