Police came away with more than just a pork pie when visiting a supermarket for a late snack last night (March 28).
Officers from Lancashire Road Police were visiting Clayton-le-Woods Asda at around 10pm when they came across a stolen car.
The driver of the vehicle, a silver Ford KA which was found to be stolen upon checks by officers, was detained and the vehicle was returned to its owner.
A tweet from Lancashire Road Police said: “The pork pie strikes again!! Officers whilst picking up their pastry based snack spotted this Ford KA.

“Following his empty gut instinct it transpired to be an outstanding stolen car.
“Driver detained and vehicle returned back to a happy owner.”

Police provided no update on the quality of the pork pie.
