Emergency services are at the scene of a block of student flats being built near Preston city centre.
A man had fallen off a ladder at the site of Canterbury Halls in North Road.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the man had fallen from the third floor of the building site.
The fire service sent two crews from Preston, an aerial ladder team, a crew from Fulwood and two crews from Chorley.
The incident around 9am on Monday (26 March) also has North West Ambulance Service and Preston Police in attendance.
Around 10.21am the man had been rescued and was awaiting an ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital.
A spokeswoman from the ambulance service said: “A man in his 60s was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with major trauma injuries after falling from height.”
