Part of Church Street was cordoned off in the early hours of Sunday morning following a fire at a former nightclub.

What used to be the Mokai nightclub and steakhouse saw a heavy Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service presence.

Two crews from Preston along with crews from Bamber Bridge, Penwortham, Leyland and an aerial ladder platform and pump support were sent to reports of a fire at the building – which is currently empty.

No one was hurt in the fire and the fire service are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, which started just before 1am on Sunday (25 March).

The nightclub building has stood empty for a couple of years – although plans were lodged in Autumn 2016 to convert it into a new restaurant.
