Has the snow gone? How Preston’s weather looks for week ahead

As Preston shivered its way through the Beast from the East there’s some good weather news to come.

Storm Emma also blew in during Friday and Saturday – uprooting trees across the city – and keeping temperatures well below freezing.

However, Sunday has dawned much warmer than recent days with highs of six degrees expected throughout the afternoon.

Your week ahead forecast from the Met Office is below…

Sunday

Morning – a strong chance of some light rain across the city, temperatures climbing to five degrees

Afternoon – Staying overcast and highs of six degrees

Evening – Temperatures fall to lows of three degrees, a 30 per cent chance of rain as we head towards midnight

Monday

Morning – You won’t be scraping the windscreen as temperatures stay at around three degrees and reach seven degrees by lunchtime. And there’s even the chance of the sun breaking through too.

Afternoon – Temperatures up at around nine degrees and as the afternoon goes on the chance of rain increases

Evening – Expect some light showers during Monday evening and temperatures stay around five degrees

Tuesday

Morning – A wet morning for the city, with a strong chance of rain and temperatures around five to six degrees.

Afternoon – The rain clears and expect the sun to break through by 4pm. Temperatures around seven degrees.

Evening – A settled evening with temperatures falling to around two degrees. A very slim chance of rain.

Wednesday

Morning – A grey start to the morning with temperatures around four degrees

Afternoon – The sun breaks through the cloud around lunchtime and there’s highs of seven degrees by 1pm.

Evening – A settled evening, with a slim chance of rain. Temperatures staying around three degrees.

Thursday

Morning – A sunshine and showers kind of morning, temperatures around three to five degrees.

Afternoon – The rain clears and it’s a fine afternoon with the sun breaking through the cloud. Temperatures up at seven degrees.

Evening – A settled evening, around four degrees so slightly warmer than previous evenings. Sunset goes beyond 6pm too.

Friday

Morning – A grey morning dawns, with temperatures around five to six degrees.

Afternoon – The rain arrives to finish the week, around eight degrees by 2pm.

Evening – The rain goes away and we’re looking at six degrees all evening and it being overcast.
