Those trying to head beyond Preston for an Easter getaway have found themselves delayed by an hour or more due to a broken down vehicle.
AdvertisementA car and caravan crashed between Junction 32 (Broughton) and Junction 33 (Lancaster).
This snarled up the northbound carriageway heading towards the city and delays quickly built back to Junction 28 on the M6 and back to Junction 8 on the M61 northbound.
Highways England said shortly after 12noon the car and caravan had been recovered and all lanes are now back open on the motorway.

Routes through the city, on the A6, have become heavily congested as motorists try to find an alternative route to Blackpool in particular.
The Broughton roundabout has become very busy, with delays of 10-15 minutes on the M55 due to congestion with holidaymakers heading to Blackpool.
