The incident occurred on Skeffington Road

A Bristol City fan had to spend the night in Royal Preston Hospital after being assaulted following Tuesday’s match.

The fan was assaulted by a Preston fan as he left the ground with his family.

He said he was punched in the back of the head and kicked once he had fallen to the floor, before spending five hours at Royal Preston Hospital in a neck brace as he was treated for what police describe as ‘minor injuries’.

He has dubbed his attacker a ‘coward’.

A statement from Lancashire Police said: “We were called to Skeffington Road at 9.50pm on Tuesday March 6 to reports man had been assaulted after the PNE game at Deepdale.
