‘Nordic Walking with Dawn’ is a friendly sociable group of walkers who regularly walk around Preston and Lancashire.
Ranging from different genders, age and fitness levels, walkers get out their Nordic Poles on regular weekly walks.
Adventure Walks also take place on the last Sunday of every month at different locations across Lancashire.

After each adventure walk, the group go for a meal and often join other instructors walks from time to time.
Organised by Dawn McLean, there a wide range of weekly daytime and evening walks with a nordic pole provided, suitable for speedy fit folk.
Well-being walks also take place for those with medical conditions, low fitness levels or those returning from illness or injury.
Currently there are three groups on a Monday morning, afternoon and evening, meeting in Fulwood.
Two groups meet on a Tuesday morning in Avenham Park, and one group meets on a Saturday morning at Avenham Park.
Between May – September, all groups meet once a month for a different scene, and there are already planned visits to Lytham, Cuerden Valley, and Worden Park.
On top of the Nordic Walks, the group also goes to the theatre, meals out, and other sociable events.
Actively fundraising, this year the Nordic Walking group will be raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice.

A planned ‘Nourishment Day’ will be hosted in June, with sessions on Thai Chi, well-being, raw food, mindful colouring, talks and demonstrations and a Nordic Walk to top it off.
The walkers will also jet of to Spain in April for a Nordic Walking holiday in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
Dawn Mclean, organiser of the walking group, said: “My husband Jimmie and I are taking two groups, 32 of us in total, to Spain for one week.
“Several of us are having Spanish lessons in preparation and these are run by my lovely friend Jean Blackburn with profits also going to St Catherine’s Hospice.
“I hold various qualifications including GP Exercise Referral and Level 4 Falls Prevention for the Frailer Older Adult.
“Until I retired in September 2016, I worked all around the UK and Europe, training physiotherapists within falls prevention and fitness instructors to teach Nordic Walking.
“I loved my job very much but now am very happy to be focusing my energy into Nordic Walking with Dawn.
“I get so much love joy and laughter from our groups and I feel totally blessed and grateful to be able to do so.”
Before joining the regular walks, there is a two-session technique course to be completed.
