New toddler play area finished for Euston Street Park makeover

A Preston park has seen the childrens play area get a complete makeover.

Euston Street Park, off Marsh Lane, was run down and after lobbying by its Friends group is now benefiting from the new swings, slides and more.

The Friends of Euston Park have been working since summer 2012 to work with Preston City Council on upgrading the park.

Clare Cobb from the group said: “After what seems like an age the new play area on Euston Street Park is now complete.

“In 2012 we held our first consultation event with local residents who were able to put forward their ideas.

“The area is now a bright, attractive and safe play area for our children to have fun and get exercise.”

The city council installed equipment for six-to-12-year-olds in summer 2015 and now toddlers have an upgraded play area too.

Costing nearly £40,000 the scheme was approved by the city council in summer last year.

Ms Cobb said: “Thanks to Playdale for installing it and huge thanks to Catherine Creeton of the Parks department and Rosie Paterson from Lancashire County Council for their invaluable work and support throughout the process. I’d also like to thank the Lancashire Environmental Fund as our main funders.
