This year’s festival has the theme of ‘Through the Ages’ and runs from June 28 to June 30.

Festival director Dr Liz Granger said: “In 2018 UCLan is celebrating 190 years of history and to mark this occasion the theme for the Lancashire Science Festival will be ‘STEM through the ages’.

“We’ll be celebrating all things science, technology, engineering and maths from the past, present and future. Amongst the dozens of shows and activities taking place, visitors can look forward to appearances from famous scientists of yesteryear, getting a sneak peek at cutting edge research taking place at the university right now and a re-appearance of a crowd favourite, the futuristic Titan the Robot.

“As always, the Festival will be completely free of charge, which wouldn’t be possible without the support from the STEM businesses we work with across the region.”

The science festival has become a staple of the city’s events scene and has won a number of awards for its commitment to bringing science to the masses.
