
British Transport Police is appealing for information after a young girl was racially abused on a train between Wigan and Preston.
AdvertisementThe incident occurred between 10.45pm and 11.10pm on December 8. The 12-year-old girl was travelling on the train with her mother when a man started to shout racial abuse at her.
The man was thin and in his mid-to-late twenties. He had a faded tattoo on his neck, which was believed to be a ‘G’ in old-fashioned writing and with a tail on the letter.
He was wearing a black baseball cap with ‘KING’ written on it in gold letters.

A statement from British Transport Police said: “It (the incident) caused her a lot of distress and upset.
“If you ever see this kind of abuse, or experience it yourself, then you can always contact BTP by discreetly texting 61016 – which goes straight through to our control room.”
