A former gas training centre has been demolished near Preston’s university campus.
The building on the corner of Moor Lane, Adelphi roundabout and Walker Street was pulled down last week.
Preston City Council confirmed permission had been given for its demolition.
A spokeswoman said: “Building control had surveyed the building and agreed to the demolition on health and safety grounds.”

The site around the building has banners up for the Portergate developers – behind the new student flats in Friargate.
It is not known whether any plans have been lodged for the patch of land.
Blog Preston has approached Portergate for comment but received no response.

A spokeswoman for the University of Central Lancashire confirmed the demolition was not part of its Adelphi Square scheme and was an independent development.
