Report of attempted car-jacking in Penwortham

A mum-of-two from Penwortham has triggered an increase in police patrols across the area.

She reported an attempted car-jacking by a group of youths in Hawskbury Drive.

The woman, who has asked not to be named, had pulled in to let another car through at around 7.30pm on Thursday (7 December).

She said: “As I stopped then a number of hooded youths approached my car and tried the door.

“Fortunately I have a car that auto-locks. They were shouting and then one of them said ‘she’s got kids in the back, leave it’.”

Her children aged six and one were in the back.

South Ribble Police were alerted and have stepped up patrols in the area in response.

The group of youths made off towards Kingsfold.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
