Police patrols stepped up after reports of sexual assault in Ashton

Police have closed off part of a road in Ashton-on-Ribble after a suspected sexual assault.

An alleyway in Alert Street, between Tulketh Brow and Stocks Road, has been cordoned off since the early hours of Monday (4 December).

Preston Police say a woman, in her 20s, is reported to have been sexually assaulted between 4am and 4.30am on Sunday (3 December).

DI Warren Atkinson from Preston CID said: “We are still piecing together exactly what has happened to the woman and would like to reassure the public that we have a number of officers working on this enquiry and we have stepped up patrols in the area.
