Mounted police chased a man along a Preston city centre street on Friday.

Officers on horseback made after a man suspected of shoplifting.

A report had been made of an attempted theft from WH Smiths in Fishergate at 12.10pm.

An eyewitness said he saw the horseback pursuit at lunchtime as officers chased the man into Guildhall Street.

Preston Police confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.
