Dozens of pensioners spent the day surrounded by laughter, food and goodwill in Preston.

Instead of a day of loneliness and isolation a care centre opened its doors for them.

The Light Foundation, a Muslim charity, put on the free meal on Christmas Day.

Delate Care in Charlotte Street played host at the day centre.

Arfan Iqbal from the group said: “Thanks to everyone who came along and the volunteers who helped.

“It meant people didn’t spend the day alone.

“A big thank you to Delta Care for allowing us to do this and for all their help.”
