The M6 was blocked following a six-vehicle collision this morning (November 28).
The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway near junction 33 for Galgate.
Two air ambulances are attending the scene and traffic is being diverted. Those travelling have been warned to expect delays.

Traffic was being diverted off at Junction 32 onto the A6 northbound – all lanes have now reopened past the scene between J32 and J33. The Junction 33 exit slip road has also been reopened.
Severe delays of more than an hour are still being experienced on the northbound M6 – this was around 11.50am.
A statement from Preston Bus said: “Be advised, traffic is likely to build up through Preston as people are diverted off the motorway.
“Apologies for any delays. Our thoughts are with everyone involved, including the emergency services.”
Stagecoach are also reporting long delays on the services 40 and 41 between Preston and Lancaster.
Police issued an update at 10.07am: “All the vehicles have now been removed to the hard shoulder awaiting recovery.”
A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said they were called to treat six people at the scene.
She said: “We had a doctor on the scene that was able to look over the patients.
“One person was taken to hospital – at Lancaster Royal Infirmary.”
The person is not understood to have received major injuries.
