One of the UK’s most popular and successful living artists, Leigh Lambert, will be visiting the Original Art Shop in St George’s Shopping Centre.
Robin & Sheila Carter of the Original Art Shop are delighted to be welcoming Lambert to the Gallery on Saturday 4 November.
He will be visiting the shop from 12pm – 4pm.
Lambert grew up in the North of England and produces nostalgic and humorous pieces depicting his childhood.
The backgrounds in his images of the northern industrial streets are depicted in monochrome with images of him, his friends and family brightly coloured – as however grim life may have been for the grown ups, for children that doesn’t matter as life is bright and fun.
His pictures contain many images that take the viewer straight back to their childhood – chopper bikes and space hoppers, ice cream vans and sweet shops and overseeing all – their parents and family.

Robin Carter, Owner of the Original Art Shop, said: “When we first opened in 1988 we sold a lot of northern street scenes that were full of nostalgia for people who grew up before the war by artists such as Lowry, Arthur Delaney and Tom Dodson, and we often said that we needed some nostalgic pictures that were relevant to people who grew up post war, in the 60’s and 70’s.
“Leigh Lambert’s work hits that spot. We are delighted to welcome Leigh to Preston and he will be the first artist to visit our brand new gallery since we moved downstairs in St George’s at Easter.
“The new space is perfect to present his art at its best and we will have a gallery full of his work for our customers to view.”
The event promises to be even more special with Leigh launching his first art book, containing over 100 high quality images of his paintings which will make a perfect present for any art lover.
Leigh will happily dedicate all purchases on the day to make a special and unique piece of artwork for his collectors.
