The shop, located on Blackpool Road, is Preston’s own independent travel agent and a member of Advantage Travel Partnership.

The Travel Centre has changed over the past 30 years, with different names and the way in which it adapted to the rise of online travel booking.

Located in Ashton, it was set up in 1987 as Ashton Travel World, and staff have worked tirelessly over the years to build a reputation and use their wealth of travel knowledge to assist the people of Preston with their holiday planning.

It was later re-named as Preston Travel Centre, and an online website was set up enabling customers to find their dream holiday online, as well as in the shop.

The website offers, not only the best holiday deals, but also blog articles to help inspire your getaways.

Managing director Sandra Ollerton has worked at the business for more than 25 years.

Sandra said: “Over the years the name has changed and the offices have been updated, but we still have the core values of the original company.

“30 years on and we are very proud to say that we are leading independent travel agency in Preston.

“This is down to our very loyal clients, some who have been booking with us from day one, and also due to the very experienced and friendly team that we have.

“We arrange everything from around the world itineraries to one night London stays – and all in between.

“The travel industry is very unpredictable and transient, and many companies come and go.

“This is more apparent with the rise and fall of internet companies, but you cant beat face-to-face experience and advice of a local agent, and the security that comes with that.

“There have been some very trying times over the years as anything that goes on in the world has a direct effect on the travel industry.

“The recession, terrorism, unusual weather, volcanoes, and other natural disasters, to mention just a few.

“Despite these terrible, unsettling events, we have grown stronger year on year – and will continue to do so.

“We are completely independent and we pride ourselves in offering the holidays that are the right ones for our client needs and wants, rather than being dictated to by a ‘head office’  – that is the reason why we are here and going strong 30 years later.

“We look forward to serving the people of Preston for the next 30 years!”
