A derelict building in Preston city centre has been cordoned off after a fire.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Preston Police closed off Manchester Road, close to its junction with Church Street.

Six fire crews were called to the scene from around 6am on Thursday (30 November).

No one has been hurt in the fire and it is under investigation.

Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene throughout Thursday morning.

The building is a former carpets and furniture shop.

It’s second time in the space of six days firefighters have been called to Manchester Road.

On Saturday they attended and rescued a man from a former cafe bar after a fire.
