Anyone wanting to use the train between Preston and Glasgow will need to catch the bus during the Christmas period.
Virgin Trains is halting services between Preston and Lancaster from December 24 (Christmas Eve) and Wednesday 27 December.
This is due to engineering work and will be replacement bus services instead.
All west coast mainline trains from Christmas Eve until New Year’s Eve will shutdown early.
No services are being run at all on Christmas Day and Boxing Day due to engineering work.

No information has yet been given by TransPennine Express or Northern about their Christmas services.
Passengers are advised to check the National Rail website before making travel plans.
