A scam lottery letter is doing the rounds in Preston according to police.
The People’s Postcode Lottery – where players win because of the postcode they are in – has seen fake letters land on doormats across the city.
Preston Police have released a picture of one of the scam letters.
Players of the real postcode lottery have been quick to point out the postcode lottery doesn’t involve winning numbers and also tends to contact people by email.
The letter – which includes reference numbers, winning numbers, is ‘highly accurate’ according to police.
Police state the scam involves a telephone number which isn’t genuine.
PCSO Stephen Connolly said: “Please remember if it sounds too good to be true then chances are it probably is.”
Anyone receiving a copy of the rogue letter is asked to contact Lancashire Trading Standards.
