Rail passengers heading north have been left stranded at Preston Railway Station tonight (November 22).
Trains are currently not departing from Preston to Lancaster due to reported flooding on the line.
Passengers stuck at Preston have described the situation as “total chaos” and trains are not expected to run for the rest of the day.
There is currently a closure in place in Butler Street to allow the rail replacement buses to arrive.
A statement on the National Rail website says: “Heavy rain is flooding the railway between Preston and Lancaster, meaning trains cannot run between these stations.”

Customers have been advised they can use alternative ‘reasonable’ routes to get home and tickets will be accepted.
National Rail has also advised that coaches will be running between Preston and Carlisle while the line is closed.
A statement from Lancashire Police said: “Please be aware there is a road closure on at Butler Street Preston as you turn left off Corporation Street and Fishergate due to the severe flooding we are experiencing.
“Drivers are being requested to try and find an alternative route and avoid town centre where possible.”
There have been 6 coaches ordered for Preston. And services will be running from Lancaster. We advise to speak with station staff at Lancaster. ^BT
